A license is also required which is issued upon passing of a written exam. Average annual salary is $56,000.

2. Library Manager

A library manager is the overall person in charge of the operation of a library. Duties include hiring employees, preparing staff assignments and work schedules, maintaining community relations, preparing proposals and operating procedures, and addressing safety and security concerns. To qualify, a master's degree in library science is required. Average annual salary is $54,000.

3. Library Coordinator

Library jobs as a library coordinator involve supervisory functions such as assisting users locate research materials; explaining procedures; preparing summary reports; ordering new books and supplies; helping develop staff training programs; and conceptualizing special events for the benefit of library patrons. Requirements for school library jobs as library coordinator range from a bachelor's degree, preferably in an arts-related course; and a master's or even doctoral degree in library science.
